We at OLD HOUSE DESIGNS are proud of our authentic old house designs from Texas and the Old South. Our designs are authentic designs taken from houses and structures that are extant and from those that no longer exist. Each design can be built exactly as the original, depending upon availability of historic materials, or with conventional building materials and modern amenities.
Any historic house can be designed and reconstructed with its original form, massing, size, scale, detail, and architectural features. We have an extensive library of historic house plan books and historic photographs dating from ca.1850 to 1930. We also have a large collection of more recent photographs of houses around Texas and the Old South.
Contact us for a consultation and we'll research our files to see if we have "your old house"! Or, send us a photograph of your favorite old house with a description of any special details, its approximate size, etc. and we will re-create it for you.

The Plantation House, Ca. 1860
The Plantation House is a 1-1/2 story central hall farm house, typical of those built between 1850 and 1870 throughout East Texas and The Old South. Many of these wonderful farm houses have been demolished or "remuddled", but there are still a few around that are basically original. We have taken the dimensions and details from an existing house and recreated it for new construction.
The Dog Trot House, Ca. 1900
The Dog Trot House is a 1 story dog trot farm house, typical of those built between 1850 and 1930 throughout rural East Texas and The Old South. Most of these houses have been demolished, but there are still a few around that are basically original. We acquired one that was being demolished, bought the salvage, and built it again by taking the dimensions and details from an existing house and recreated it for the new construction.
The Log House, Ca. 1850
The Log House is a 1 story pioneer house, typical of those built between 1840 and 1900 throughout rural East Texas and The Old South. Few authentic houses remain and those that do have most likely been remodeled and/or enlarged. We took the dimensions and details from an existing house for a new log house to be used as a country get-away, hunting cabin, or lake house. It features a tin roof, large hall, plank doors, 6 over 6 wood windows, wood burning rock fireplace in a large keeping room with a kitchen, 2 bedrooms, one bath, and a screened in back porch.
